New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon
Marshall was suspended for a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy.
The league issued a statement Tuesday, which said Marshall is penalized
without pay for the first three regular-season games in 2008. If he fully
complies with required counseling and other conditions of the suspension,
commissioner Roger Goodell will consider reducing the suspension to two
contests.
Subject to appeal, the suspension is slated to begin August 30. Under a three-
game ban, the 24-year-old Central Florida product would not be eligible to
return until September 22, after the Broncos face the Saints in Week 3.
Marshall is allowed to practice with the team during training camp. He
would miss contests at Oakland and at home against San Diego under a two-game
ban, while a three-game penalty would also force him to miss the Saints game.
In 16 games last season, Marshall led the Broncos with 102 receptions for
1,325 yards and seven touchdowns. He had just 20 catches for 309 yards with
two scores in his rookie season of 2006.
